while I was away..........

hiyass guys! So I am FINALLY back! Trips are fun but its always nice to come home, jump in some sweat pants and snuggle up in your bed! On my little trip I would say I discovered many cool things.

Firstly, I finished It's Not Summer Without You, which I absolutely loved and recommend. The writer, Jenny Han, is in fact on tour right now. You can look up where or go to http://jennyhan.tumblr.com/ which is her super duper cool blog:)

I also happened to go to a gorgeous museum called the Gardner Museum. This museum was created by a art collector named Isabella Gardner, by far it is the best museum I have ever been too. Before she collected art she collected books! Therefor, inside there were stunning old books that I wish I could have taken home: here is what some of them looked like

AND I bought a little cute environmental book light that folds at MIT, also saw the Italian version of Twilight which my friend was reading -

And lastly I bought a historical fiction book about Paul Revere's daughter. Cant wait to read it!
So all in all, a pretty bookwormyish trip > totally my kinda thing.

Blaire Waldorf

"I suddenly realized that the way to get over you wasn’t by hooking up with some random guy, or by pretending that we didn’t happen. You and I… loved each other. And then you broke my heart. I tried everything possible not to face that fact. I will kiss somebody someday… but it will be for me. Goodbye Chuck."
(from 4.26.10 episode)

Open Windows

I press my cheek upon the cold window.
the warm tears slip down the glass
camouflaged by the rain that slides down
down, down, down.
he walks. not once will he turn back
yet my eyes follow, hoping, wishing that he would
my fingers tremble with the latch
and my mouth forms shapeless words
longing for something, just something, to say
yearning for my throat to make a noise
any noise, which he would hear and turn to face me
and acknowledge my existence
or maybe it's self assurance,
maybe I'm the one who needs to know.
Numb and frozen.
my arms, my legs, my mind
the open window, the cold rain
both are not at fault
he steps into his car,
the sound of a closing door thunders in my ears
he leaves behind nothing but tire tracks
and takes with him, my broken heart.
an erratic beating, yet beating nonetheless
as it always has and always will for him.

Audrey Hepburn

Tonight I was watching Breakfast at Tiffany's (for the millionth time) to see how it compares to the book. I've decided that they are both alike and different but all in all, it is a pretty good take on Truman Capotes short novel. Also I can finally say that Audrey plays Holly Golightly perfectly, absolutely "darling" as she would say. I started crying when watching the scene when they are in the rain and Holly cant find her cat.
If you haven't seen the movie then head over to my place right now.

Also, if you adore Audrey then you should buy this book which talks all about her life and other movies she has made: (Sabrina is one of my favorites)

One of my favorite quotes from Breakfast at Tiffany's:

"Never love a wild thing, Mr. Bell,' Holly advised him. 'That was Doc's mistake. He was always lugging home wild things. A hawk with a hurt wing. One time it was a full-grown bobcat with a broken leg. But you can't give your heart to a wild thing: the more you do, the stronger they get. Until they're strong enough to run into the woods. Or fly into a tree. Then a taller tree. Then the sky. That's how you'll end up, Mr. Bell. If you let yourself love a wild thing. You'll end up looking at the sky."

Breakfast at Tiffany's

Have you ever seen the old movie Breakfast at Tiffany's? With that ahhhhhh-mazing actress Audrey Hepburn? Well that movie was based on one of Truman Capote's short stories. This book contains four shot stories, the main one of course is Breakfast at Tiffany's (about 100 pages). Truman Capote is such a talented writer, his characters are described in such depth and he notices details that one would never think of. If you are interested in a timeless classic then you will love this one! * I also recomend the movie to those of you who aren't big readers.

These words were taken from the back of an old copy of Breakfast at Tiffany's:

She's Holly Golightly,
The baddest little good girl you've ever seen.

She's Holly Golightly,
Wild and wonderful and wacky, and you'll meet her in this hilarious novel!

iPad Libraries

So today I have been playing around with my dad's new iPad. Setting it up for him etc... ect... Anyway I found that their online bookstore/library is pretty damn cool. It's clean and pretty and convenient, I would agree that it is much better than the Kindle by Amazon. As always Apple delivers. Personally though, I like to have my own real copies of books. I love the way they smell when you first buy them, and the feeling you get when you finish a long one. These things cant be replaced by a bright electronic screen.

National Poetry Month

So today my friend Kiana reminded me that its National Poetry Month! Yay! I am a big poetry fan and I, myself love writing poetry. I thought I would share one of my favorite childhood poems with you, its by Shel Silverstein and is just perfectly clever. Here you go!

Sick

'I cannot go to school today, '
Said little Peggy Ann McKay.
'I have the measles and the mumps,
A gash, a rash and purple bumps.
My mouth is wet, my throat is dry,
I'm going blind in my right eye.
My tonsils are as big as rocks,
I've counted sixteen chicken pox
And there's one more-that's seventeen,
And don't you think my face looks green?
My leg is cut-my eyes are blue-
It might be instamatic flu.
I cough and sneeze and gasp and choke,
I'm sure that my left leg is broke-
My hip hurts when I move my chin,
My belly button's caving in,
My back is wrenched, my ankle's sprained,
My 'pendix pains each time it rains.
My nose is cold, my toes are numb.
I have a sliver in my thumb.
My neck is stiff, my voice is weak,
I hardly whisper when I speak.
My tongue is filling up my mouth,
I think my hair is falling out.
My elbow's bent, my spine ain't straight,
My temperature is one-o-eight.
My brain is shrunk, I cannot hear,
There is a hole inside my ear.
I have a hangnail, and my heart is-what?
What's that? What's that you say?
You say today is...Saturday?
G'bye, I'm going out to play! '

A Northern Light

Five Star. Five Star. Five Star. Five Star. Five Star. Five Star. This book was amazing. This is a story of daughter of a farmer in 1906. One of the best historical fiction books I have ever read. Deal with issues like racism, murder, and following your dreams. Quite intense. A book you do not want to put down. Also taught me a lot about how life was way back when...

Mattie Gokie has big dreams. Huge dreams. Inconceivable dreams. Dreams that don't involve becoming the wife of a farmer, or staying in her small town. She wants to become a writer, and the chances are slim unless she can make it to New York.... but the chances of making it to New York are even slimmer. To earn some money she takes a job at a hotel, there she becomes burdened with a dangerous secret.  "Break a promise to the dead and they'll haunt you, Ada says. Keep the promise and they'll haunt you just the same." Mattie has some important and life changing decisions to make. But there is always a difference between what you should do, and what you want to do.

60s Fashion: Vintage Fashion and Beauty Ads

Hey you fashion lovers, here's something for you. This book is filled to the brim with photography and fashion advertisements from the 60's. It's really cute and not that expensive (like other fashion books), and would make an adorable present. Some of the ads are hilarious and its very interesting to see how people advertised in the olden-days. You can find it in any Barnes & Noble store or look it up online. XOX

Summer. A word I savor in my mouth. The sound simply makes my mouth water. How can a word fill someone with so much happiness? Summer means a lot of things to me, long hot days, cool sweet nights. The sound of crickets and the absence of honks. It means grass tickling my toes, it means cold popsicles melting, dripping and staining my fingers. Summer is freedom. It frees me from the ground, lets go of me like a boy releasing his balloon. It also means books. Books upon books upon books. All day every day. I can read all night, till 5 am. Unbothered by noises and people and problems. Left alone with words to accompany me through the nights. Summer is just one big library for me. Lets start the countdown. 51 days!!!!!!!!

A look at my bookshelf...

Here you're getting a look into my life, and what I am reading. Here is my bookshelf. People say rooms show you're personality. Well look around....... this is me. I have sections of books... the regular YA (Young Adult) reading having to do with teen life is in the center. Above that you have Harry Potter and Twilight and some of my favorite poetry. To the left you have fantasy that occurs to teens and to the right you have your wilder fantasy with beasts and creatures. Above that you have my To-Reads and some gossipy beach read series like Gossip Girl. On the other side you have my Archie comics and the three shelves also contain all the books I have read in school, my favorite children's books and even more Archie Comics. Lets take a closer look.

The Secret Circle

Looking for something........ witchy? I guess so if your reading this post. Well here you go, witchy. This book is written by the same person who wrote the Vampire Diaries (which is now a t.v. show). So lets just say its not all fantasy. A lot of it deals with everyday teen problems. Boys, friends, popularity and what not. But they aren't every day teens....

Cassie is told by her mother at the end of the summer that she's moving. Away from her home, her friends and from warm California too New England. What?????????? Now she has to move into a broken down home with a grandmother that she never met. Weird things keep happening to her and she doesn't understand why... she finds herself drawn to a group of kids at school. They are terrifying, everyone is intimidated by them, even the teachers. And when a death occurs at the school Cassie's life changes. For the better or for the worse, she still cant decide. Check it out:)
