Memiors of a Teenage Amnesiac

Okay, so this is absolutely, positively, undoubtedly one of my all time favorite books. This summer I read it on my free time during an intense backpacking trip and it has stuck with me since. I recommend it to everyone, because everyone can connect with the main character Naomi. This story is about figuring out who you were, and who you want to be. It’s about family problems, and friendships and of course love.

This is the greatest description for a book that I have ever seen:

If Naomi had picked tails, she would have won the coin toss. She wouldn’t have had to go back for the yearbook camera, and she wouldn’t have hit her head on the steps. She wouldn’t have woken up in an ambulance with amnesia. She certainly would have remembered her boyfriend, Ace. She might even have remembered why she fell in love with him in the first place. She would understand why her best friend, Will, keeps calling her “Chief.” She’d know about her mom’s new family. She’d know about her dad’s fiancée. She never would have met James, the boy with the questionable past and the even fuzzier future, who tells her he once wanted to kiss her. She wouldn’t have wanted to kiss him back.
But Naomi picked heads.

I just want to note that this is NOT a sad story. Dont be intimidated by the subject. Its awesome:)
Oh and if you like this book, the author Gabrielle Zevin she has a blog so you can check her out:

Nightlight

Hey all you Twilight fans! Ready for your next book? Its quick and its fun and most of all its funny. Belle Goose moves to Switchblade, Oregen and meets the love of her life.... Edwart Mullen. Thats right. Edwart. P.S. DO NOT read this book unless you have read the twilight series, otherwise it will sound stupid and utterly insane.

About three things I was absolutely certain. First, Edwart was mot likely my soul mate, maybe.

Second, there was a vampire part of him - which I assumed was wildly out of his control - that wanted me dead.

And third, I unconditionally, irrevocably, impenetrably, heterogeneously, gynecologically, and disreputably wished he had kissed me.

"There are certain people

who come into your

life and leave a

mark... Their place in

your hear is tender;

a bruise of longing,

a pulse of unfinished

business. Just hearing

their names pushes and

pulls at you in a

hundred ways, and when

you try to define

those hundred ways,

describe them even to

yourself, words are

useless." - Sara Zarr

Mockingjay To Come Out August 24th

The cover and title for the third Hunger Games book has just come out!

This series is a MUST read for both boys and girls. Filled with action, and pain, future and politics, you even have your love triangles. The Hunger Games has been named best teen book of 2009 and I find that I cant disagree.

It's a very hard book to describe and I dont think any reviewer could give these books justice, but honestly try the book even if you dont like the reviews you hear. This is not a "BEACH READ" this is a "CLASSIC TO BE". For the first time here is Barnes and Nobels description: After losing her soul mate, Cameron, when they were nine, Jennifer, now seventeen, transformed herself from the unpopular fat girl into the beautiful and popular Jenna, but Cameron's unexpected return dredges up memories that cause both social and emotional turmoil.

I Will Always Love You came out?!

So I recently found out that the Gossip Girl series (wayyyyyyyy better than the show by the way) came out with a new book in November of 2009! Where have I been? I'm going have to go get that at the bookstore. Anyway yes I do read gossip girl, they are a fun series and do not judge them by the TV show. Lets just say things are really different in the books. For example: In the books Chuck Bass is gay and owns a monkey and could possibly be (my guess) the "gossip girl". If you like that series then you will definitely like Cecily von Ziegesar's other series "The It Girl". It Girl is a spin off of the Gossip Girl books, this series takes place at a boarding school which Jenny Humphry attends. Just as juicy if not better:)

L.A. Candy & Sweet Little Lies

Lauren Conrad's two books: LA Candy and (recently released) Sweet Little lies are sure to be a fun addition to your library. Though they are not very deep books they are interesting and not often done. In the books you learn about life as a reality tv star, you also learn about how much is reality. Much of it is taken from Lauren Conrad's (ex-reality tv star) life though she will not admit it. The books aren't very well written but are very juicy and scandalous. *Especially the sequel*

LA CANDY: Innocent Jane Roberts decides to take a year off after high school and move to the big city to work as an event planner. Taking the city head on Jane and her edgy best friend Scarlett (who is attending college) plan to have the time of their lives when they run into a producer who wants to make them reality tv stars! Its a dream come true..... or is it?

Dairy Queen

Dairy Queen is definitely one of my favorite books. It has won the Abraham Lincoln Book Award and is a must for your bookshelf. The trilogy continues with Catherine Gilbert Murdock's second and heart breaking book The Off Season and the last book of the series (newly released) Front and Center. If your a sporty girl you'll adore this book. If not you STILL will.

SUMMARY

D.J. Schwenk lives in Red Bend, Wisconsin on a... you guess it: Dairy Farm. Her dads knee is hurt, her older brothers are at college playing football, her mom works two jobs so D.J. takes care of the farm. That is until Brian Nelson, quarterback of the enemy school, starts to help out. He's obnoxious, and isnt a very good worker. But then sparks fly over they hay fields and D.J. finds herself training him for football. This is the story of a girl finding herself and letting her hair down.

This is Romeo and Juliet in Wisconsin, with cows, but its more comic then tragic -Publishers Weekly

Confessions of a First Daughter

Ever wondered what it would be like to be the presidents daughter? Well now you can find out. This book is fun and flirty and a good "one time read". If your into deep and complicated books this is not your type. But if you want a book for the beach, this ones very entertaining.

Morgan Abbot is a girl who used to be normal. Well not much anymore, since her mom is the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. Things have changed. Not all for the bad though, cute body guards are definitely a plus. But when her mom has to go away for a secret meeting that NOBODY can know about, Morgan has to step in an pretend to be her mother. Not so normal anymore:)

The House Of Night Series

The House of Night Series has you hooked from the first page. This vampire seriesis different then any others I have read, if your looking for Twilight then think again. The series has just as much Twilight in it as it does Gossip Girl!

SUMMARY

In the first book Marked you meet main character Zoey Redbird. Zoe is an average girl with a evil step dad and a mother who follows him around like a puppy. When Zoe becomes a vampire flegling (which is not yet a vampire) she is almost happy to escape and start new. Throughout the books Zoey finds herself dealing with life and death, and basically saving the world. Not to mention all the boy problems, (which are just as hard) and best friend issues. This six book series (and soon to be seven) will leave you in suspense. Just remember, at the house of night, everything isnt always as it seems.

Before I Die

Before I Die I can only recommend if you are a tough cookie. Its very sad and absolutely beautiful. This book has made me realize how grateful I am to be happy and healthy. A few droplets of tears my run down your cheek but nonetheless a great read. Written by a true Brit, Jenny Downham, sometimes it may be hard to understand with the British slang. Also there are some intimate scenes which may not be good for young readers.

SUMMARY

A 16 year old girl, Tessa Scott, is diagnosed with cancer. After learning she doesnt have much time to live she write up a list. A bucket list... things she wants to do before she dies. Commit illegal crimes, find love, become famous, those are just a few. So, Tessa, determined to live her life while she has one, she journeys to complete the list before time runs out. This book is filled with dry humor, hurt and surprising twists and turns, narrated by an extraordinary girl who realizes there is more to the world then what we see. This tear-jerker will touch you deeply.

The Summer I Turned Pretty

The saying "You cant tell a book by its cover" does not apply in this case. The cover is gorgeous and so is the book. Its filled with humor, sadness, joy, and raw emotion. After every chapter you are dying to read the next. You'll find your self finishing it faster then you can say the title! (I finished it the day it came out). I also happen to know the author, and she is one of the sweetest girls I know. If you have read the first one then get ready for the sequel because it comes out in APRIL!

SUMMARY;

Summer is love, summer is the ocean, summer is boys and popsicles and laughing and so much more. Every summer Belly heads down to the beach with her family and the two brothers CONRAD and JEREMIAH. But this summer things are different, no... she's different. This summer the boys look at her in ways they never have before. Why? Shes become pretty. It will be a summer to remember, with love triangles (or love squares! )

"I Has what every girl wants in a summer. - Sarah Dessen: Author of Lock and Key

"If I could live inside this amazing book, I would. I would inhale the ocean air and soak up the sun, and I would hang out all day with kind-wonderful-funny-awkward Belly and her two known-'em-forever buds, Jeremiah and Conrad. I'd watch the three of them stop being kids and start being more...and I'd hope hope hope that when Belly falls in love -- 'cause you know she will -- she'd give her heart to the exact right boy."
Lauren Myracle: Author of TTFN

Start it off

Hi Reader,
I created my blog for you enthusiastic readers who devour books like vanilla sundays. I myself love to read and have very few friends who can reccomend me good books. So this site is for all of you who need a little help in searching them out... because there is nothing worse then dragging your eyes across a page of a boring book. I also want to note that I dont like a specific genre of books. Inside this blog will be books that range from classics, to horror, to gossip, to fantasy. You may see bestseller and you may see books that you have never heard of. I hope you can find a story here that you enjoy. Now go on, get reading!
