Secret Life of Bees

Looking for a book that will impress parents, teachers, friends... and is still good? Well this inspiring historical fiction novel is the perfect book. Though it is used in many schools as summer reading I absolutely loved it. AND could relate to it since the narrator is a fourteen year old girl. Kind of a heavy book so if you read gossipy types of books then I wouldn't suggest this.

This is the story of a young girl in South Carolina who runs away from an abusive father and a harsh past. Along with black housekeeper Rosaleen, she adventures off to find out about her deceased mother's past. Woven into the time of 1964, we see racism and segregation through a young girls eyes. As she meets the Boatwright family, she begins to find faith and love in places she never thought she would.
